Staff Sgt. Taybe Lee Spitler
Born September 9, 1979 in Madrid, Spain at Zaragosa Air Force Base Hospital. Mr. Spitler attended Washington High School in Washington, PA. Mr. Spitler taught Martial Arts at Pacific Rim Martial Arts Academy from 1992 and 1999, where he received his First Degree Black Belt, he has dedicated a major part of his life to the martial arts and attaining knowledge of the arts.
Mr. Spitler entered the United States Army on September 29, 1999 and attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Knox, KY. Spitler was assigned to 1st Platoon (Mad Dogs), D 2/81 AR (Death Dealers). Upon completion of OSUT, Mr. Spitler was stationed at Fort Irwin, CA and assigned to 1/11 ACR. While on Active Duty he pursued a degree in Criminal Justice and Business Management and completed over 500 hours of Military Correspondence Courses in a wide range of subjects. He is still attending and pursuing his degrees.
Mr. Spitler was assigned to D 2/81 AR from September of 1999 until February of 2000 when he graduated OSUT. While in OSUT Mr. Spitler was assigned to Squad Leader within two months of arrival and then appointed Platoon Guide until his graduation. Mr. Spitlers first permanent duty assignment was with 1st Platoon Bravo Troop 1/11 ACR from March of 2000 until February of 2001. While with Bravo Troop 1/11 ACR, Spitler went to his first gunnery; he loaded and helped his crew shoot distinguished, with a score of 928. While with Bravo Troop, his duties were to maintain and keep his tank fully mission capable (FMC) for rotation. Mr. Spitlers’ next assignment was to serve as a M1A1 driver in the M1 Platoon from February of 2001 until August of 2002. While with the M1 Platoon, his duties were to maintain and keep both of his tanks FMC. Mr. Spitler was in charge of two M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tanks while in the M1 Platoon. He provided support to units to proficiently conduct monthly gunneries where he earned the respect of his peers, as well as, the majority of higher ranking officers that he was crewed up with. This allowed Mr. Spitler to attain many gunnery records within this time frame.
Mr. Spitler was then assigned as a Special Duty (SD) to the Blackhorse Chapel, where he has been since August of 2002. Mr. Spitlers’ duties while in the Garrison aspect of working at the Blackhorse Chapel were clerical work, supply NCO, and maintaining and keeping his vehicles ready for rotation. While performing rotational duties he coordinated many missions to and from the Field Training area of Fort Irwin, this included convoy maneuvering of at least six vehicles at one time, personal protection of his Chaplain which entailed the coordination of area security, as well as, placement of security personnel. He has also trained with various weapons and weapon systems in the militaries arsenal, CQB, NBC, and has over 10,000 hours driving time, with no incidents, on various sized wheeled vehicles and tracked vehicles.
Mr. Spitler was then assigned to HHT, RSS 11 ACR, after finding out that he was not able to go with his old unit to Iraq, due to medical problems. While working for the Chaplain, Mr. Spitler changed his MOS to get into the Military Intelligence field as a 96U (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Operator), he is still in the Intel field, but is transferring to a 96B (Intelligence Analyst). Spitler finished out his active duty career in December of 2005, but is continuing to serve in a Reserve aspect with the 99th out of Coraopolis, PA.
While stationed at Fort Irwin, CA, Mr. Spitler met many people and was able to make contacts that are still to his advantage today, he hopes to utilize the knowledge that he has gained through the military and the people that he knows to propel this corporation to the next levels of success, as well as, to help train future employees. With his knowledge of military protocol and further connection with the military he is able to still have contact with personnel and continue to train and learn and in turn impart this knowledge onto our corporation. Mr. Spitler was accountable for many high dollar items and vehicles throughout his military career and has shown to be extremely reliable at accountability and security of high dollar items and property. His military expertise and knowledge has been a great help to this coorporation.
Mr. Spitlers’ awards and decorations include: Army Soldiers’ Medal (1st Award) the Soldiers medal is the highest peacetime award for valor, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), Drivers Badge (Wheel, Track and Mechanic devices), Expert marksman badge with the M16 Rifle and the 9mm, the National Defense Ribbon, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Ribbon.
